Credit Suisse Tael gold bars
« on: March 10, 2017, 11:00:10 pm »
On YouTube, I saw a cool video of a gold bar being sold by Bullion Exchanges. It is a Credit Suisse gold bar. However it is not 1 oz. Instead the bar is denominated as 1 tael. Tael is a popular unit of weight for gold in Asian countries such as China and Vietnam. 1 Tael is equivalent to 1.205 troy oz. Which means that this Credit Suisse tael bar contains a little over 1 oz of gold. Credit Suisse had produced tael bars for the Asian market in the past, however this is the first time I've seen a Credit Suisse tael bar being struck in a "kit kat" shape. All of Credit Suisse's gold products are refined and minted by Valcambi in Switzerland. I am particularly interested in these tael gold bars because my family is Vietnamese. During the Vietnam War, many Vietnamese refugees carry tael gold bars with them as portable wealth to bring with them to wherever they plan to immigrate to.
